The goal of child sponsorship still has not been achieved. A large number of students at both the primary and secondary level continue to drop out of school. This is particularly problematic because uneducated parents often place less emphasis on their own children’s education. This creates a headwind to our country development.

We aim to support school age children in the Lake Victoria area who would not otherwise attend school. A number of factors contribute to poor school attendance rates:

1)    Lack of adequate parental support

2)    Lack of qualified staff at local schools

3)    Learning disabilities

4)    Poor learning environments and insufficient money

5)    Lack of proper administrative systems that could help to improve education at the local schools

6)    Inadequate facilities and materials

7)    Poor school supervision

We work to provide half sponsorship to children who have academic potential but lack sufficient support to achieve their educational goals.

African Foundation for People In Need (AFFPIN), is a local non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 2003 and is focused on rural development, providing child care and support to vulnerable families and communities in need. AFFPIN develop interventions to improve access to health care and education, and to aid in the reduction of excessive poverty.

We work in the hope that, through creating opportunities for vulnerable families to become self-sufficient, this will enable them to access their fundamental human rights to high standards of education, adequate shelter and healthy food.

Every Child To School Affpin Plan 2011

African Foundation for People in Need [AFFPIN] since 2005 we work hard to provide opportunity to the less fortunate school going children from vulnerable backgrounds in the rural Uganda. The most marginalized families are often composed of grandmothers living with orphans who cannot afford to provide for the basic needs of children under their care. Children from such backgrounds have therefore not been able to attend school because their care givers cannot afford to provide for their school needs.

AFFPIN working with it partners in the UK and Italy shall offer a contribution to children from low income families. The sponsorship is rather partnership between low income families living with school age children and AFFPIN. In this case it’s a cost sharing scheme made to reduce the strain over low income parents who may not afford school costs.

Monitoring

AFFPIN interest is to develop a monitoring and evaluation network that works to improve the learning of students and to improve the standard of education in the rural, and again for purposes of keeping the administrative costs low we partner with competitive local schools to take in students under our support.

Primary and secondary school age are eligible for this program. Students in high school institutions will unfortunately not eligable.   download the form

AFFPIN WORK CAMP 2011

We work to establish sustainable programs that realize the potential to self independence and self owned support to provide for personal family needs. Grandmothers in the rural who live with orphans have less potential to provide for the needs of orphans under their care with out external assistance. Orphans under the care of grandmothers may not be able to go to school, have good cloths, beddings, nutritious food or medical care. The available resources in the rural like small pieces of land in the hands of grandmothers have not been utilized to help needy grandmothers and the children under their care.

These continued un-utilized resources in the rural have promoted excessive poverty, vulnerability, street children, illiteracy and disease in Uganda. Time and land in the rural have lacked value and a few people consider this as something that could be used to help develop the poorest communities in this country. The cause of excessive poverty in the rural homes is lack of information, un-valued time wasted every day and unidentified very important resources. Affpin focus on helping communities to discover their potential using the little pieces of land, time and practical experience to improve on their living situations. Help communities to value land and time, and make the youth regret the time being wasted every day in un-important things.
